High picture quality

2x LP Horizontal resolution (500 lines)
Panasonic original technology enables LP mode recording with the same 500 lines (D1) of horizontal resolution as that of SP and XP modes, which is double the horizontal resolution compared to the 250 lines (1/2 D1) of conventional LP mode recording. Now you can enjoy viewing extended recordings (4 hours [single-sided DVD-RAM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, +R, +RW] / 7 hours 10minutes [DVD-R DL, DVD+R DL] / 8 hours [double-sided DVD-RAM]) with exceptional detail and twice the picture quality.

1080p Up-conversion
By interpolating video data using proprietary algorithms, standard definition TV format data is upconverted to 1080 x 1920p HD format video data. This conversion to HD format increases the richness of the original data by approximately six fold, and produces the highest possible image quality when viewing content on a large-screen HDTV.

* Video sources upconverted to 1080p High Definition, while of high quality, will exhibit somewhat lower subjective image resolution than true, native 1080p HD sources such as Panasonic Blu-ray Disc™ players.

Digital tuner capable
The Digital Tuner is a high-performance hybrid tuner capable of receiving both digital and analog broadcasts. It uses a signal processor to effectively control noise and distortion, and its proprietary matching circuits allow it to transform and separate digital broadcasts into the appropriate digital or analog signals. When digital broadcast signals drop out, the picture generally either disappears or becomes fi lled with block-noise, but the digital tuner produces a beautiful picture even under difficult reception conditions, such as when there are obstacles interfering with direct signal access.

Digital noise reduction (DNR)
When connecting a VCR and DIGA to record VHS videotape images onto a DVD disc, DNR detects and virtually eliminates randomly generated noise and colour irregularities to help minimize flicker. Thanks to Digital noise reduction (DNR) technology, the tape input signal is automatically detected and optimum processing is performed to provide an easy way to even more beautiful digital recordings.

Progressive Scan
Panasonic DVD recorders are equipped with a high-precision progressive video processor that handles 30-frame progressive scan images* on NTSC discs. This lets you enjoy high-resolution progressive playback of original DVD images.

* To enjoy a progressive scan picture, a TV with progressive scan capabilities must be used.

Real-time variable bit rate control
Panasonic DVD recorders feature original quality rate control to achieve the bit rate that most effectively improves picture quality. By varying the compression rate to match image data volume and scene complexity, this helps assure both high picture quality and efficient recording.

Networking Features

Digital camera linking through USB terminal & SD memory card
All DIGA products are equipped with an SD memory card slot and USB terminal. This makes it easy to view photos from any digital camera that uses SD Memory Cards or comes with a USB cable. Just slip the SD memory card into the card slot, or use the cable to connect the camera to the DIGA recorder's USB terminal, and you're ready to enjoy a spectacular big-screen slide show with family or friends.

Auto folder creation
You can use your DIGA recorder to burn images onto a DVD-RAM disc for permanent archiving. When JPEG images on an SD Memory Card are uploaded to a DIGA recorder, DIGA automatically creates folders on the DVD-RAM and arranges them by date.

Intelligent archiving
DIGA automatically recognizes images that you've uploaded before, and uploads only the new ones.

Quick and easy display
It's easy to use your large-screen TV to view JPEG photos stored on an SD Memory Card or in a digital camera's internal memory. High-resolution JPEG images of 2 MB or more are converted to 1920 x 1080 pixels – ideal for an HDTV screen. You'll be blown away by how beautiful your high- resolution photos look on a big HDTV.

JPEG Slideshow with Music
With DIGA, you can also listen to music or other sounds that you have recorded onto a USB device while viewing a slide show of your favourite JPEG images. Soundtrack makes it even more fun to view your photos with family or friends.

Multi-format with USB terminal
DIGA recorders can also play JPEG, MP3 and DivX files stored on a USB device, and you can burn JPEG data onto DVD-RAM for archiving.

* DivX playback is available only for DMR-EZ48 and DMR-EZ28.
