High picture quality - 2.7” LCD
These models offer high quality wide images that make for beautiful, dramatic viewing on a wide-screen TV. The image is processed on 16:9 area of the CCD. Because the image decoded has the same proportions as your wide-screen TV, there is virtually no picture quality degradation. You get beautiful images and all the excitement and dynamism on either a wide 16:9 screen TV or a conventional 4:3 TV. These models also feature a high-density, wide 2.7-inch LCD, making it easier to frame shots when you’re shooting in 16:9 mode. You can enjoy shooting wide, and viewing wide.
High-quality MPEG2 engine
Panasonic's MPEG2 engine is a wide-range, high-precision search engine that produces smooth, beautiful motion pictures. Because it precisely records the differences in each frame, it can render fast, complex motions - like those of athletes in the thick of the action - with exceptional precision. The MPEG2 engine also uses Variable Bit Rate technology that Panasonic developed for the high-end DIGA DVD recorder. Giving LP recordings nearly twice the resolution captured with previous Panasonic camcorders, this lets the camcorder record clear, smoothly flowing pictures.
Pure colour engine
The Pure Colour Engine LSI converts the CCD output signal from a complementary colour filter into an RGB signal (containing the three primary colours in light) at an early stage and extracts the low-frequency luminance component from the RGB signal. This innovative engine also achieves truly superb colour reproduction for high-zoomed pictures.
0.6 sec quick start
In quick start mode* the SD camcorders are ready to record 0.6 second after the LCD is opened. You are always ready to capture the moment, even when the unexpected occurs. Also, power consumption in quick start mode is less so you save battery time.
Auto power LCD
The LCD brightness can be adjusted manually to suit the surroundings. In Auto Mode, the LCD brightness is adjusted automatically in 16 smooth steps depending on the surroundings. In darker rooms it adjusts to a lower brightness, making it easier to frame the shot. Outside, it adjusts to almost twice the brightness for easy viewing even on sunny days.
MagicPix® Images
MagicPix® images gives you images with colour even in dim lighting (1 lux).
One-touch navigation and joystick control
The joystick makes the camcorder very easy to use. As you shoot, just watch the image in the monitor and follow the navigation icon. You can handle a number of operations quickly and easily without taking your eyes off the subject.
SUB-REC button
You can freely adjust the angle of the LCD monitor for comfortable viewing no matter how you're holding the camera. The Sub-Rec button on the side makes it easy to shoot when you're holding the camcorder low. The buttons are laid out simply and logically for easy one-hand operation.
DVD Copy
These SD camcorders have a USB Host function which lets you connect directly to a DVD burner via a USB cable. You can then copy recordings from the SD card to a DVD disc by menu selection.
VideoCam Suite 2.0
VideoCam Suite editing software is just the tool you need to make polished, smartly finished productions. You can easily load images into your PC, put scenes in a different order and delete the ones you don't want with simple operation. When you're finished with your video production, you can use VideoCam Suite to save the edited version onto a DVD disc or SD/SDHC card.
VIERA Image Viewer
Just slip the SD or SDHC memory card from your camcorder into the VIERA Image Viewer card slot on your VIERA TV, and you're ready to view moving images recorded in the MPEG-2 format.
Web mode (YouTube™ uploader)
 Step 1: Shoot
YouTube™ limits videos to 10 minutes. In Web mode the camcorder uses a 10-minute countdown system, so you're assured that the recording won't be too long for YouTube™, and you won't have to edit it (compress) down after shooting.
Step 2: Connect
The Upload mode in the VideoCam Suite software is automatically activated as soon as the camcorder is connected to the PC.
Step 3: Upload
To upload, simply choose the image file you want and click the [Upload] button. Encoding is no longer a hassle, as the software does all the work for you.

Dust proof*
The dustproof design keeps the SW21 safe even if handled with dirty hands or used in a place with swirling dust. The SW21 is protected against sand too, so you can take it to the beach or sports field with no worries. And it's waterproof, so if the body gets dirty you can simply wash it with water.
Shock proof (1.2 m)*
The SW21 is designed to resist damage even if dropped from a height of up to 1.2 meters. We fortified the outer body casing, making it thicker to improve rigidity and strength. Inside, we provided an intermediate resin chassis to cushion and protect the main circuit board and lens.
Water proof (2.0 m)*
Take the SW21 underwater as deep as 2.0 meters and get some great video shots in the pool or ocean. Swim along with tropical fish, capture shots of a beautiful coral reef, or get action footage of a friend snorkeling. Waterproofing also means you can shoot in the rain or snow with no worries.
